One of the hardest things I find to do is shop at the mall or online for that perfect gift that expresses my love and know it will be something useful and not apart of next month’s yard sale! Sping is comming! Flowers are blooming, everyone is having a cookout BBQ, mending their gardens and cleaning out the house. So here are some ideas that I thought I would share with you to give that perfect gift this spring season.
Holiday Decorations
A lot of communities do decorate the interior and exterior of the commons area and porches of independent living, assisted living or nursing home. I saw it was not unheard of to see private quarters adorned with holiday cheer. The problem may be that most residents simply do not have the means of transporation on their own. You may also need to contact the community administration of the can and cannot have with a list of guidelines. Walmart is a great resource for affordable small holiday decorations. I remember seeing mardi gras beads, hats, masks and snacks! When I go out into the garden center, I’m hypnotized forever. Maybe they are allowed small house plants?
Food Items
If your family is anything like mine, we have a whole list of nutty food traditions around each holiday! Just remember that some establishments may not allow refrigerated items or additional storage space. Keep it small. Another decision might be it’s mastication ability and how long before it spoils. Might I suggest a basket of cookies, james, candies for the visiting grand kids, crackers and cheeses, sugar free ginger snaps and such.
Classic Movies & TV Shows
Anything nostalgic is perfect! If your loved one suffers from short term memory loss, this could bring back a sense of familularity. There are many websites including amazon that you may scour. Get a list of their favorite shows or search by time eras.
